Running Count

I'm going to try to keep a running count of the trash dumped in the alley behind my house and the empty lot at the mouth of the alley.
There was quite some activity there last night and I'd hate for all the drop-offs to sit out there in the weather when some could use the stuff.
Like:
A chest freeze filled with old hardwood flooring and a baby stroller.
Two mattresses and a door (not suitable for outdoor use).
One (1) metal crutch.
A refrigerator (white).
A high chair.

This stuff has joined the faux leather sofa (black), plastic covers to nautilus machines, electric range (white), overstuffed patio chair with patio table (minus glass top), set of woven straw seated dining chairs.

Like they say, "One man's trash..."

Years ago, I used to dumpster dive a lot. Some good things I managed to pilfer were: a brown metal desk with a built in directional lamp, a big homemade quilted bedspread, a paper lantern standing lamp, two strings of working Christmas lights, a shelving unit for CDs, and a grandma-ish carpet bag. It makes me wonder why I ever quit diving.

faux leather sofa for free? what a steal! I paid money for one of those a while back.

I tend not to grab anything that doesn't have a bleachable surface. That said, our kitchen table came from next to the dumpster. My roommate ran into the apartment all out of breath saying, "Come quick! Hurry!" I laughed when I saw what all the commotion was about, but that didn't stop me from running to help carry it back to the apartment.

The best is on eviction day, usually around the 15th of the month. J-man and I used to live together on Eastern ave in a little place known as the "Crack Den" We would score all kinds of usefull stuff. We found a kick-ass brown couch that could only be moved in through a window over eastern ave. Using ropes and some creativity we moved this hulking piece of furiture into the nasty little east baltimore apt. Once inside, bliss. By far the best *score* was one of those 1950's belt massagers. The kind where you stand up and the belt goes around your back and the two eliptical wheels attaching the belt to the motor would turn and the belt would just shake the shit out of you. I re-wired it and got it functioning in only the way a true belt massager could. It was great entertainment for about a day. We decided to take it to our hang-out spot "The Bohemeian" a coffee house on eastern ave, headed out towards highlandtown. It was a place where all the hip kids would go to play pool and chess and drink cheap coffee from a Mr. Coffee. We donated the massager to the cause. Hopped up little goth kids on a belt massager, now there is something to write home about.

Eviction/pile of trash on the street day is alive and well in Highlandtown.
Last month I could have gotten a washer and drier. Free!
Not quite as cool as a wiggle the fat off yourself machine, but also mechanical.

Did the machine help any little goth kids shake their retardedness?

Pot of gold?
Did I mention there's a trailer home there as well? It'd take a lot of bleach, but it could be worth it.
